Tomorrow Is “T” Day

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Yes, we all know tomorrow is “tax” day, but this year April 15th will also be “tea” day, as hundreds of “Tea Party” events are held across America to protest rising taxes and rampant government spending. While the so-called “mainstream media” has largely ignored the growing “Tea Party” movement, Talk radio has been a major source of inspiration for the protests, with dozens of national and local Talk radio hosts promoting events. But as CelleCast CEO Andrew Deal points out, along with Talk radio, the tax protest movement has developed largely via online outlets like Twitter, Facebook and PJTV. Tomorrow, the mobile audio provider — in conjunction with PajamasMedia.com —  will offer average people in the crowds at events nationwide the ability to call-in via their cell phone and record field reports on what they’re witnessing at their local event. “Anyone from around the country will be able to hear the reports and the best will be included on Pajamas Media’s comprehensive coverage,” Deal tells NTS MediaOnline Today. “People calling in can also hear the reports and post audio comments on them as Talkbacks. All opinions are welcome.” Deal says CelleCast is not taking any sponsors for tomorrow’s “Tea Party” coverage saying that he sees it as “our chance to contribute to increasing the national dialog.” Get more info on the nationwide protest movement at www.teapartyday.com.

Not Everyone On Board With Tea Party Protest

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

While most conservative Talk radio hosts are strongly supporting tomorrow’s scheduled “Tea Party” tax protests, the movement has received little attention from the major broadcast television networks or newspapers nationwide. Independently syndicated radio talker Leslie Marshall (pictured) said she believes the mainstream media isn’t covering the “Tea Party” movement because it’s not really worth covering. “It’s not sexy, it doesn’t bleed,” she tells FOXNews.com. The talk host adds that today’s protesters are doing a disservice to those Revolution-era protesters by co-opting the “Tea Party” name. ”You have to look at our history,” she says. ”The reason those people revolted is they didn’t want to pay taxes that weren’t represented by elected officials. Last time I checked, Obama’s not taxing you to death — he is spending to stimulate the economy and he is an elected official.”

Guest Passes Out On Beck TV Show

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Guest David Buckner, professor of organizational leadership at Columbia University, was just finishing up a segment on Glenn Beck’s daily FOX News Channel television show yesterday (4/13) when he quietly announced to Beck that he was about to faint. As Beck and Buckner were wrapping up a segment on what is driving U.S. companies toward bankruptcy, Beck looked at his guest and inquired, “Are you alright?” Buckner replied, “I’m passing out.” With that, he took Beck’s outstretched hand and fell to the floor. Beck immediately went to commercial break. Upon return he told viewers that Buckner had apparently been ill earlier in the day and had suddenly felt lightheaded. Returning to the air a somewhat unnerved Beck added that several staffers and a number of viewers apparently thought the very real incident was part of the show “because this show, you never know what to expect.” Buckner is reported to be fine following the embarrassing moment on live TV. India’s “Economic Times” Disses Rush Limbaugh

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

India’s leading business newspaper attacked the Premiere Radio Networks talker today, calling him “a tireless motormouth,” and a “Republican mascot.” The harsh comments were made in response to Limbaugh’s use of the word “slumdog” during a conversation with a caller to his program last week (4/10) talking about the state of the economy and outsourced jobs that won’t be returning to America. “They’re outsourced for a reason, an economic reason, and they’re not coming back,” Limbaugh told the caller. “If you’re sitting out waiting for a job that’s now being done by a slumdog in India, and you’re waiting for that job to be cancelled, for the slumdog to be thrown out of work and you get the job, it ain’t going to happen.” The newspaper reports the term, derived from the critically acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire, has become increasingly common as a slur against Indians. The Times also noted that a ‘Bollywood’ composer told the newspaper recently he was embarrassed to walk the streets of the U.S. because “they have started calling Indians slumdogs.”
