WCCO Taps Tafoya For PM Drive

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

As rumored for the past couple of weeks, WCCO/Minneapolis has officially named ESPN reporter Michelle Tafoya to host weekday afternoons on the CBS Radio News/Talker. It’s a return to Twin Cities radio for Tafoya who previously hosted a show on crosstown KFAN. A familiar face from her role as a sideline reporter on ESPN Television’s Monday Night Football, Tafoya (pictured) will host 3-6pm, a slot previously held by Jack Rice who left WCCO last January. Don Shelby, who has held down afternoons on an interim basis since Rice’s departure, will move to a new 1-3pm slot and will also co-host with Tafoya from 3-3:30pm weekdays. Tafoya is already a Twin Cities “homie” who lives in the suburban Minneapolis community of Edina along with her husband and three-year old son. She’ll begin her new WCCO show on June 1.

Stuart Greenblatt Joins Air America Media

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Most recently VP/Affiliate Sales at Westwood One, Greenblatt joins Air America as VP of the network’s new affiliate sales division. He’ll be charged with clearing the liberal talk network’s programming on radio stations across the country. During his tenure with WW One Greenblatt was involved in the launches of The Dennis Miller Show, The Radio Factor with Bill O’Reilly and The Fred Thompson Show. “Stuart has a great track record to head up our affiliate sales division,” said Air America CEO Bennett Zier. “His creative energy and strategic style are a perfect fit as we look to grow our current shows and create and launch new programming.”

In Other News From Air America: Bennett Zier corrected reports that were widely circulated yesterday that the network would be soliciting support from listeners via donations, similar to the campaigns of PBS and NPR. “We are looking at the concept of establishing a listener/reader circle similar to those at airlines, restaurants and fan sites where passionate users may be offered access to special events, talent receptions, the annual cruise, premium audio, video and text content on AirAmerica.com, and other special offers,” said Zier. “Our business model remains robust; we will not be soliciting donations.”

Admission to Career Day is free for both NAB Show registrants and non-registrants. Get more details at www.nab.org.
