Savage Sues Britain’s Home Secretary
Monday, June 1st, 2009
Talk Radio Network host Michael Savage has followed through on his threat to sue British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith for including the talk host’s name on a recent list of individuals banned from visiting the U.K. for security reasons. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Savage retained British attorneys who have filed the suit charging that, by including the syndicated talker on the list, Smith has “linked the talk show host to heinous acts and dangerous individuals in a manner that has endangered his life and livelihood.” Savage, who says he’s had to hire security guards to protect himself and his family since being singled out by the British government, told the Chronicle, “This lunatic is linking me up with Nazi skinheads who are killing people in Russia, she’s putting me in a league with Hamas murderers who kill Jews on buses.” Reiterating he has “never advocated violence” Savage added, “She has painted a target on my back. Does she not think people might hunt me down?”

Venerable CBS News anchor and commentator Charles Osgood has re-upped with Westwood One to continue hosting The Osgood File. The long-running news feature airs four times daily on a reported 365 radio stations nationwide. Terms of the deal were not announced, but WW One characterized it as a “multi-year agreement.” Commenting on the renewal Hall of Fame broadcaster Osgood said, “I’m a lucky guy getting to do what I love, working with the best people in the business on both Sunday Morning for CBS News and The Osgood File for Westwood One.” WW One EVP Bart Tessler calls Osgood’s daily feature “iconic radio” and adds, “We’re proud to say that Charles Osgood will continue to ‘See You On The Radio.’”
Former KFI/Los Angeles evening host John Ziegler (pictured) will resurface at crosstown KGIL on June 8th where he’ll host a new 11am-1pm local show. In recent months Ziegler, who previously hosted a daily show on WHAS/Louisville before moving to KFI in 2004, has produced two documentary films; Blocking The Path To 9/11 and Media Malpractice:How Obama Got Elected And Palin Was Targeted. The controversial and confrontational talk host was also recently handcuffed and detained at the University of Southern California when he attempted to hand out copies of his “Malpractice” documentary on campus. Ziegler was there to protest USC giving CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric an award for her interview of Alaska Governor and then-Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin during the 2008 presidential election campaign. A video of that incident is available
