Wingin’ It For The Weekend In Philly
Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010
Once again, it’s time for the WIP/Philadelphia Wing Bowl and all 29 contestants for this year’s eating festival will be on hand tomorrow night (2/4) to “weigh-in” at the legendary Chickie and Pete’s in South Philly. After recording their official “eating” weight, age, and hometown, the competitive amateurs will have 24 hours to prep for this year’s 18th annual event, which will be held Friday night (2/5) at the Wachovia Center. Yep, that’s the arena that’s also home to the NBA Philadelphia 76ers and NHL Flyers — WIP’s “Wing Bowl” is that big. So big, in fact, that the ubiquitous ‘Snooki’ (pictured) — of MTV’s hit reality series Jersey Shore — will appear as a special guest at this year’s contest. This year’s “Wing Bowl” winner drives home in a 2010 Ford F-150 truck, with a portion of the proceeds from the ticketed event going to benefit the Philadelphia Police Department’s (F.O.P.) Survivors Fund. You can follow all the indigestion-inducing “action” HERE.

RTDNA says the new guidelines for journalists are a supplement to the organization’s already existing Code of Ethics and are designed to “help journalists adapt to the unique ethical situations presented in today’s digital news world. The main principle of the just-released guidelines is not an attempt to lay down the law, but to take journalists through questions they can ask themselves as they tread new turf on Twitter, Facebook, blogs and more. “These guidelines will be instantly valuable in just about every newsroom across the country,” said RTDNA Chairman Stacey Woelfel, who was also part of the guidelines’ development team. “I can guarantee that anyone reading these new guidelines has already dealt with at least one of these issues. Now there’s a way to weigh your editorial decisions regarding social media and blogging.” Read RTDNA’s new guidelines
Veteran KGO/San Francisco personalities Ray Taliaferro (l) and Gene Burns enjoy a lighter moment during the Citadel News/Talker’s recently held “All Star Debate.” Along with fellow KGO hosts Ronn Owens, Gil Gross and John Rothman, and morning anchor/moderator/referee Jennifer Jones Lee, the panelists held a spirited discussion and debate about current issues in front of a sold-out crowd at the Bay Area’s historic Alameda Theater.
