In a lengthy piece published yesterday (9/25), Daily Beast and Newsweek Washington Bureau Chief, Howard Kurtz, offers an in-depth profile of FOX News Chairman Roger Ailes, the unquestioned power behind America’s “dominant cable news channel.” Among one of the more candid comments from Ailes, as reported by Kurtz in the piece posted yesterday on the Daily Beast’s website: FNC star Bill O’Reilly “hates” fellow talkers Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh because they did better in radio than he did. Ailes also said that O’Reilly “moderated” his views because he was “scared” by Glenn Beck’s popularity on the right upon the TV and radio talker’s addition to the FNC lineup (Beck has since left the network to launch his own channel GBTV). To those who accuse Ailes of running a biased network, the 71-year old media mogul told Kurtz, “Every other network has given all their shows to liberals. Genesis Communications has introduced NewsTalkFlorida.com, a new website that combines the resources of the company’s News/Talk 1060 in Melbourne, News/Talk 1470 in Tampa, and 820 News in Tampa into one main website. A company release about the new venture says, “From politics to weather to entertainment, NewsTalkFlorida.com will give Florida what it wants — the most up to date news across the state.” News/Talk 1060 and News 820 are already streaming their programming on the site, with News/Talk 1470’s streaming set to launch soon. Genesis owns and operates six radio stations in central Florida including: WWBA, WHBO and WMGG in Tampa Bay, WHOO and WAMT in Orlando and WIXC/Melbourne.

KFWB/Los Angeles morning news anchors Phil Hulett and Penny Griego chat with the mayor of ‘Beautiful Downtown Burbank,’ Jesse Talmantes, during a recent live broadcast from that city’s legendary Bob’s Big Boy restaurant.
