As NTS MediaOnline Today first told you via a Breaking News email earlier today, weeks of rumors become reality this morning, as Cumulus Media finally confirmed one of the Peachtree City’s worst kept media secrets by announcing the company will flip WYAY-FM to All-News. Cumulus co-COO John Dickey told Atlanta Business Chronicle reporter Dave Williams, “Having this format on FM is really the future. “We think this is going to be a very successful radio station.” Former KDKA/Pittsburgh PD Marshall Adams has been tapped to lead programming efforts for the new yet to be named all-newser that is already staffing up with hires from the ranks of local Atlanta news pros — including a number of former CNN Radio staffers who were let go when the network downsized its operations earlier this month. United Stations Radio Networks re-up with Bloomberg Radio, inking a new multi-year deal that will see USRN continue to handle affiliate relations, ad sales, marketing and distribution of the business and financial news network that claims some 525 program affiliations nationwide …  KVI/Seattle adds Michael Smerconish (pictured) to the Fisher-owned Talk outlet’s lineup, where his daily three hour show — syndicated via Dial Global — will air from 1-3pm and 9-10pm weekdays … Greater Media’s Philly FM Sports/Talker “97.5 The Fanatic” signs a multi-year deal to become the new radio home of the NBA Philadelphia 76ers. Tom McGinnis remains the voice of the Sixers as part of the new radio rights package … J.C. Corcoran “checks out” at KTRS/St. Louis, replaced in the noon-3pm slot by Gateway City TV sports anchor Martin Kilcoyne. Howard Stern Appeals Court’s Ruling

Howard Stern and his longtime agent Don Buchwald are appealing a recent ruling by a New York State judge that tossed the pair’s lawsuit against SiriusXM over some $300 million in disputed stock awards they say the satcaster owes them. Bloomberg Radio reports that lawyers for Stern and Buchwald argue that the court “misinterpreted the parties contract and granted summary judgment before there was any discovery taken in the action.” The barristers further argue that “reversal is warranted because, among other things, the parties’ contract is clear on its face that plaintiffs are entitled to the relief they seek or is, at a minimum, ambiguous.”

Erik Hellum Joins NAB Radio Board

Townsquare Media EVP/Radio Erik Hellum has been elected to serve a two-year term on the NAB Radio Board, representing District 20 comprised of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Five current members were re-appointed to their designated seats by Radio Board Chair Caroline Beasley including Ed Atsinger, CEO of Salem Communications; Don Benson, President and CEO of Lincoln Financial Media; Alfred Liggins III, President and CEO of Radio One; Jessica Marventano, SVP of Gov’t Affairs for Clear Channel Media & Entertainment; and Dan Mason, President and CEO of CBS Radio. Two year terms for all noted above will begin effective with the NAB’s annual Board Meeting in June.
