Being Snowed In Actually Not All That Bad
VeteranĀ WCBM/Baltimore midday talker Tom Marr checks in to report that this week’s history-making snow storm forced him to return to his radio roots as a newsman for the first time since 1978. “When the station’s regular news crew couldn’t make it in to the station, WCBM moring host Sean Casey and I shared the newscasts on the hour and the half-hour through the evening,” says Marr. “One big advantage we had is that WCBM is owned locally by Mangione Family Enterprises and the station is located in the Hilton Hotel and office complex that’s also owned by the Mangione’s. So staffers who struggled in to the station at least had a good place to stay, good meals to eat, and an adult beverage or two — consumed only after our extended shifts, of course!” Offering his experienced perspective on this week’s so-called “Snowmageddon” Marr told NTS MediaOnline Today, “I’ve been in radio for half a century this year and I have never seen anything like this.”
