In the wake of last month’s announcement by Larry Gifford that he planned to exit his post as Program Director of KIRO-FM and KTTH/Seattle on March 1st, Market Manager and Bonneville/Seattle VP Carl Gardner has responded by announcing a new programming management team from within the ranks of the company’s Emerald City cluster. Pete Gammel, who has served as KIRO’s News Director for the past three years, takes on added responsibilities and the new title of KIRO Radio Director of News and Programming. Concurrently, KIRO Assistant PD Jason Antebi has been named PD for conservative talker KTTH and Executive Producer of KIRO Radio Weekends. Additionally, Gardner has upped 710 ESPN/Seattle (KIRO-AM) PD Brian Long to the new role of Senior Director of Programming, where he’ll continue to program KIRO-AM, and also play a “leading role” in setting programming strategy and tactics for both KIRO-FM and KTTH. All of the promotions are effective immediately.
