» Half Of Americans Support Fairness Doctrine: That's the latest findings from a new Rasmussen study. The national telephone survey found that 47% -- nearly half of respondents -- are in favor of the government requiring equal time for opposing political views on radio and TV. Only 31% think that Internet sites should be subject to the same rules. Ironically, the poll also found that more than two-thirds of Americans (71%) say it's already possible for virtually any and all political viewpoints to be heard in today's multi-media world, while just 20% disagree with that premise. The study notes 54% of Democrats polled are in favor of governmental control of content on the airwaves, while just 26% are opposed. Republicans and Independents are about evenly divided on the issue. Read the full story HERE.

» Drive-Thru Service Not Actually Available: A scary moment recently for Dr. Debbie White, veterinarian and co-host of syndicated weekend show Animal Radio. A minivan plowed into the lobby of White's Las Vegas private practice while the office was open for business. Fortunately, no people or animals were hurt and the driver of the van and her daughter were also not injured despite tremendous damage to both the building and the vehicle. Amazingly, it's the second time a car has run into White's building which, by the way, is not located on a street corner. The vet and talk show host calls the latest accident "startling" and reports that it "didn't take long for the drive thru jokes to start."

» Lakamp Named EVP At PRN: Premiere Radio Networks has appointed Brian Lakamp as EVP/Digital Media. Most recently CEO of digital media start-up venture Fluxe, Lakamp will be based at Premiere's Los Angeles offices and report directly to PRN President Charlie Rahilly. In his new position Lakamp will oversee the company's interactive business, and be responsible for creating alternate program delivery platforms and new online business opportunities. Lakamp assumes a role similar to the one previously held by Brian Glicklitch who left the company earlier this year to join former Premiere COO Kraig Kitchin at Soundmind. "Brian joins us with deep experience in connecting with consumers online," said Rahilly.  "I'm confident his leadership will enable Premiere to grow its already substantial digital relationship with listeners and sponsors."

» New Sheriff At CBS/L.A.: Hot on the heels of yesterday's resignation of Jeff Federman as manager of CBS Radio's Los Angeles station cluster, the company has named market veteran Roy Laughlin as SVP/Market Manager in Tinsletown where he'll oversee all-newsers KNX and KFWB, FM talker KLSX and five additional FMs. Laughlin will move into the corner office September 2 and report directly to CBS Radio President/CEO Dan Mason . No stranger to L.A., Laughlin began his career in the market in 1991 as GSM for legendary CHR KIIS-FM. That led to a long run as co-market manager of Clear Channel Radio's Los Angeles station cluster from 1997-2005. Most recently Laughlin has served as a partner at SoCal's Magic Broadcasting and been involved in a number of media consulting projects.

» Howard On Demand: Self-proclaimed "King of All Media" Howard Stern has extended his deal with In Demand Networks to continue producing his Howard TV On Demand through 2010 when his current Sirius XM Radio deal is set to expire.
