It's Not Easy Bein' Green: Conservative talk host Jeff Katz is in Denver this week covering the Democratic National Convention for WBT/Charlotte listeners. "Our broadcast position is right across from one of the official DNC recycling centers," reports Katz. It's absolutely hysterical to watch the greener-than-thou types stand there for ten or fifteen minutes carefully separating nacho chips from guacamole and sour cream to place each in the proper canister. Is it refuse? Compost? Recycling? But the payoff is that every 45 minutes or so, a trash guy comes along and just dumps all of it in to the same trash dumpster! Priceless!" Katz has pictures of the recycling debacle on his page at www.wbt.com.

» Can't We All Just Get Along? Although the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama camps may not exactly be ready to hug each other quite yet, past and present WLS/Chicago staffers did just that when reunited at the DNC in Denver this week. Former WLS host Jay Marvin -- now hosting at liberal talker KKZN/Denver -- was a guest on Salem Communications conservative talker WIND/Chicago where he chatted with "Big John" Howell and one-time WLS News Director Cisco Cotto. Current Salem Radio Network VP and former President/GM of WLS Tom Tradup then appeared on Marvin's program and also reunited the progressive host with current WLS conservative afternooner Roe Conn making it a veritable love fest in the Mile High City. Tradup was later seen handing out brass belt buckles to all involved saying, "These are the very last of my old "Music Radio 89" belt buckles and this was the perfect place to exhaust my supply!"

» Mutual/NBC Reunion Planned: Calling all alumni of the Mutual/NBC newsroom for a planned September 13 reunion at the Hyatt Hotel in Crystal City (Arlington), VA. Alumnus and longtime DC publicist Rita Rich says, "It's been ten years since operations ceased for those radio news operations. We did a great job, often with less financial resources and personnel than our competition. We chronicled the building of the Berlin Wall and were there when it came down. The same reporter -- Dick Rosse -- was there for both events. We were at every fireside chat and carried every Presidential radio address through the 1990s. We've got stories to share, and most importantly, we get to share the company of each other." Get more info and put your name on the invitation list for the reunion HERE.

» Stephanie Miller Mobilizes: As she broadcasts live from this week's DNC in Denver and next month's gathering of Republicans in Minneapolis, the Dial-Global syndicated lefty talker has partnered with Foneshow to provide on-the-go/on-demand mobile phone access to content from her daily radio show including regular features "Right Wing World," "Stand Up News," and "Tinsel Talk." "Mobile is an important emerging platform for radio and we're thrilled to be a part of Foneshow," said Miller about the new service for listeners. "Foneshow allows me to deliver unique and compelling material apart from my radio program to my fans via mobile text during both party conventions." You can sign up to hear Miller's take on events via your cell phone HERE.

» Live From Radio Row: Expect to see numerous photos of Talk radio folks covering both the DNC and RNC on this page in the next couple of weeks, like this one featuring the fine folks from Cox Radio News/Talker KRMG/Tulsa. All decked-out in the latest in convention badge attire are (l-r): KRMG's Rick Couri and Drew Anderssen, Oprah Winfrey "BFF" Gayle King and KRMG's Joe Kelley.

» Department Of Corrections: In our story yesterday (8/25) about the signing of affiliate number 50 for ABC Radio Networks' Imus In The Morning, we reported that the I-Man's current affiliate total had passed his previous station count when the show was canceled by CBS Radio/Westwood One in 2007. WW One SVP Dennis Green took issue with that info provided to NTS Aircheck Today by Citadel VP News/Talk Phil Boyce. "I have documentation that there were 62 affiliates for Don Imus when the show was cancelled by CBS Radio/Westwood One," says Green. "I just wanted to set the record straight."
