Happy 90th Paul Harvey! It was nine decades ago tomorrow (9/4) when radio icon Paul Harvey Aurandt was born in Tulsa, OK. First broadcast nationally in 1951 by ABC Radio Networks, for the past 68 years Paul Harvey News and Comment has made the venerable commentator the most recognized voice on radio to millions of Americans spanning several generations. Although not yet back to fulltime duties following some health issues and the death of his longtime wife and partner "Angel" earlier this year, Harvey has returned to voicing his long running feature The Rest of The Story and slowly is increasing his News and Comment appearances. You can send your own Happy Birthday wishes to Harvey HERE.

» Tantum's Back And Wearing Stripes: Longtime Talk radio programmer Greg Tantum resurfaces as PD at Red Zebra Broadcasting's newly acquired DC Talk outlets, conservative talker WTNT and liberal talker WWRC. Most recently PD at now defunct crosstown Bonneville talker "3WT", Tantum left that station several months ago, saying he was considering a return to the west coast where he served a long tenure at KGO/San Francisco before moving to Washington in 2006. In Other News From Red Zebra: The company's other recently acquired DC station, Sports/Talk WTEM, will launch a 24-hour "Pre-Game Tailgate Show" beginning today at 4pm, leading up to tomorrow night's NFL season opener between regional rivals the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants.

"Will You Be Wanting Coffee Or Chianti?" That will be the question of the day on September 19 as Steel City residents pack an extra bottle of Tums in their briefcase before heading off to work and KDKA/Pittsburgh's annual "Spaghetti Breakfast." It's the 25th year for the CBS Radio News/Talker's pasta-palooza and former wake-up host John Cigna -- who was at the very first event -- will be on hand to mark the milestone. Last year volunteers served up 5,861 servings of spaghetti, sausage, meatballs and "all the fixings" between 5-9am. The free public event is expected to draw a record crowd to Pittsburgh's historic Market Square for this year's silver anniversary celebration. Bon appetit!

» Grillin' And Chillin': With the worst of hurricane Gustav now passed, the media's focus shifts from storm winds across the Gulf coast to hot air inside the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis-St. Paul. That's CNNRadio anchors Roland Martin and Lisa Desjardins broadcasting live from the network's "CNN Grill." Their daily 1-3pm (ET) radio show from the Republican National Convention is also being audio and video streamed online at CNN.com.

» Content Factory Pacts With Pro Football Weekly: The company will takeover sales and marketing for the weekly radio show hosted by Hub Arkush and "compensate current producers" Syndication Networks to produce and syndicated the program. Additionally, Content Factory will launch a new weekly radio show, Pro Football Fantasy Weekly. Also hosted by Arkush, the new weekly program will include a round-up of the week's "need to know info" targeting the substantial market of fantasy football players. A new daily feature will also be added to the "PFW" package. WSCR/Chicago will produce Pro Football Fantasy Weekly and serve as the new show's flagship outlet.

» LL's ESPN AM: Rapper, actor, hip-hop pioneer and major sports fan LL Cool J visited the ESPN Radio studios in Bristol, CT this morning, stopping in to chat with several of the network's show hosts. A serious boxing and New York Yankees fan, the rapper credits his 26-year success to "being confident, but not arrogant." Offering a self-description of his musical style LL Cool J noted, "I'm not old school, I'm not new school. I'm classic."

» Condolences: To the family, friends and colleagues of longtime CBS News reporter Ike Pappas who died last Sunday (8/31) from heart failure. He was 75. As a reporter for WNEW/New York covering the jail transfer of accused JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, Pappas unexpectedly found himself broadcasting the shooting of Oswald by Jack Ruby live. His mic also captured Oswald's last words and Pappas would later offer key testimony at Ruby's trial ... Sincere sympathy to the family and friends of legendary Motor City broadcast engineer Ed Buterbaugh who died over the Labor Day holiday weekend after suffering from bladder cancer. He was 65. Prior to a 20-year stint as Chief Engineer for WJR/Detroit, Buterbaugh was perhaps best known as the architect behind the booming sound of CKLW/Windsor during the Canadian border station's Top 40 heyday.
