East Coast Braces For Hanna: Depending on how the wind blows, this weekend's arrival of hurricane Hanna will undoubtedly impact residents and radio all up and down America's eastern seaboard. Predicted to arrive along the Georgia coast as a Category 1 storm early this evening, Hanna will likely hit the Carolinas tomorrow morning and the mid-Atlantic and New England areas by Sunday. Lined up right behind Hanna is Ike which is expected to blow into Florida sometime early next week. Talk radio stations from Boston to Miami and all points in between are already in storm-prep mode, with most reporting that live storm coverage will pre-empt the usual weekend lineup of syndicated shows and infomercials. Literally millions of east coast residents will be impacted by this storm and battery powered radios will be their lifelines. We'll have an update on Monday from stations in the areas that are most impacted by Hanna this weekend.

WOR/New York Remembers 9/11: WOR's Paul Siebold reports that the Buckley Broadcasting News/Talker's theme for next week's anniversary of the 9/11 attacks will be, "How our lives have changed since September 11, 2001." Special programming will focus on how events of that day are still impacting New Yorkers through interviews, listener phone calls and specially produced remembrance segments. WOR was the first station to move their studios and offices to Lower Manhattan after the terrorist attacks brought down the World Trade Center Towers. Today's edition of NTS Aircheck Weekly (delivered to your inbox early this morning) offers a review of a number of other special programming events scheduled by stations and networks for next week's 7th anniversary commemoration.

Parting Shots: OK, now that delegates have moved out and the clean-up crews have moved in, we're also cleaning out our NTS Aircheck Today files of photo's from this week's Republican National Convention. By all accounts Talk radio took center stage at both last week's DNC and this week's RNC, with "Radio Row" at both conventions a red-hot destination for heavyweight politicians and celebs who were in attendance.
