Sarah Palin Unplugged: Digging through some old cassette tapes, KDKA/Pittsburgh talk host and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review columnist Dimitri Vassilaros unearthed a copy of an interview he did with the Alaska guv for his newspaper column in July 2007, long before Palin was thrust into the national media spotlight as Republican John McCain's vice presidential running mate. The interview offers insights into Palin before any coaching from GOP campaign spinmeisters as she talks with Vassilaros about the potential of running for President, her beauty pageant days, eating moose-burgers and her affection for the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers. Vassilaros aired the raw, uncut interview with Palin this past Saturday night on KDKA and you can hear a podcast of it HERE.

FOX News Anchor Brit Hume Retires: The veteran reporter, who has been with FOX News since 1996, says he's leaving his post as an anchor for the top-rated cable news network because he's "lost his enthusiasm" for the for the news business. "If you look at a guy like [CBS News'] Mike Wallace, who worked into his 80's, he never lost his enthusiasm," Hume told the New York Daily News. "This stuff exhausts me as much as it excites me. I'm just kind of tired of doing it." Although Hume -- who is 65 and has covered every presidential campaign since the 1970s -- will exit his daily job anchoring FNC's Special Report, most insiders don't think the easy-going newsman will totally exit the media stage. Instead, its expected that, much like semi-retired NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw Hume will continue to make regular appearances on FOX as a political analyst.
