» Bob Grant Out At WABC/New York? Although he's still listed as part of WABC's lineup on the station's WEBSITE , the legendary talk host told NTS Aircheck Today that he received a phone call from "an employee" of WABC last night (11/24) telling him that his nightly 8-10pm show has been cancelled. Grant, who was previously fired from WABC under then owners Disney back in 1996, returned to the now Citadel-owned News/Talker to great fanfare in 2007. Last June the station held a public ceremony in New York to honor the pioneering talk host with a "Lifetime Achievement Award." According to Grant he's still planning to do a scheduled fill-in this coming Friday (11/28) for ABC Radio Networks nationally syndicated Mark Levin, and also reports that a "Best of Bob Grant" is scheduled to air on Thanksgiving night (11/27). However, the host says he's not yet heard officially from anyone at the station, or the network, as to whether or not those plans are still on. No response to our request for comment from WABC management on the situation as of this posting.

» WGN Picks Williams: Eleven-year WGN/Chicago veteran John Williams has been named to succeed morning man Spike O'Dell who will retire from the Tribune News/Talker next month. Williams, who currently airs in the station's 1-4pm slot, will move to wakeups on December 15 following O'Dell's final day on December 12. Williams joins a pretty elite club in his move to mornings at WGN where only three predecessors have held down that coveted slot since the 1960s -- Wally Phillips, Bob Collins, and O'Dell. "Spike, Bob and Wally left big shoes," WGN VP/GM Tom Langmyer said in a memo to the WGN staff. "I have no doubt that John will wear them well and with great pride and dedication to our listeners, clients and to all of us here at 'The Voice of Chicago.'"

» Clear Channel Granting Holiday Wishes: "If you could ask for just one thing, no matter how big or how small, what would it be?" That's the question posed by the San Antonio-based broadcaster which is sponsoring an online contest, "Granting Your Christmas Wish," that will give 50 people across the country, "a holiday to remember in these tough economic times." To enter listeners simply log on to a participating CC radio station website and type in the keyword "wish," then write a brief entry detailing the wish they'd like to have granted this holiday season. Entries to the contest are being accepted through December 11.

» Greetings From Bob & Tom: It's the fourth year in a row that the Premiere Radio Networks syndicated radio talkers -- also seen nightly on WGN America -- have partnered with the USO to send care packages, "full of love and laughter to U.S. troops serving around the world." Since 2005 Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold have raised over $580,000 and sponsored more than 23,000 care packages full of useful items and treats for America's military men and women. Among the items included is the duo's latest CD, Greetings From The USA featuring a compilation of some of the Bob & Tom Show's best comedy bits. Find out how you can contribute HERE.

Alan Colmes To Depart Hannity & Colmes: The long-running liberal voice of the FOX News Channel nightly show said yesterday he will leave the program sometime next January. Colmes and on-air partner Sean Hannity have hosted the weeknight sparring match together for the past 12 years. Colmes says the departure from the show is of his own choosing and added, "It's a great time to make a change. Thankfully, with a Democratic Congress and President in place, what more can I do?" Colmes will continue to host his nightly FOX News Radio show and will also develop a new weekend program for FNC. No word yet on whether or not a new partner will be named to replace Colmes opposite Hannity who commented, "Not only has Alan been a remarkable co-host, he's been a great friend, which is rare in this industry. I'll genuinely miss sparring with such a skillful debate partner."
