It's About Catching The Buzz: And few stations do that better than Bonneville all-newser WTOP/Washington which has just launched the WTOP Holiday Bailout. As the word "bailout" becomes the number one buzzword around Thanksgiving tables this year -- especially in DC -- 103.5 WTOP will give 10 listeners a shot at winning $1,035 in cash beginning Monday (12/1). An eleventh listener will be awarded a grand prize of $5,000 to help wipeout those holiday bills. Entering is easy, listeners simply log on to WTOP.com and type in the keyword "holiday bailout." Offering a sign-of-the-times slug line to promote the contest, the station wishes listeners, "Good luck and happy holidays from your bailout station, WTOP Radio and WTOP-dot-com." Proof that good ideas for radio don't have to be complicated or expensive.

The Rest Of The Story: With a nod to the legendary Paul Harvey for that headline, we now pretty much know how WABC/New York will flesh out their lineup in light of yesterday's news of the cancellation of Bob Grant's nightly show. Talk Radio Network's Laura Ingraham Show moves into Grant's old 8-10pm slot, followed by Curtis Sliwa's new ABC Radio Networks syndicated show until 1am, and Premiere Radio Networks Coast To Coast with George Noory until 5am. Who, or what show will take Sliwa's previous 10am-noon hours remains unconfirmed, but rumors of a new WABC-based syndicated talk show hosted by former politician and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough have been floating around the industry for weeks. Scarborough previously had a brief run on national radio via Westwood One back in 2005.

Michael Savage Re-Ups With TRN: It's a multi-year extension for the host of The Savage Nation with Oregon-based Talk Radio Network which has syndicated his Talk radio show for the past nine years. "[TRN CEO] Mark Masters knows syndication. I know Talk. It's a perfect marriage," said Savage about the deal renewal. From his flagship outlet KNEW/San Francisco Savage airs daily from 3-6pm (PT) on a reported 300 stations nationwide.

Mike & Mike Headed To Hospital: No worries, ESPN Radio morning duo Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg are fine, but they will originate their national radio show from Dallas' Medical City Children's Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The broadcast is the result of a winning bid during the recently held fourth annual ESPN Radio Don't Ever Give Up ESPYs V Foundation Auction on behalf of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. Two hospital officials made personal contributions to have the show originate from the hospital for their young patients. Golic and Greenberg will also pay a visit the hospital next Monday afternoon to hang with patients.

Just A Bit High On The "Yuck" Scale: That's CBS News Radio correspondent Peter King checking out the earthbound twin of NASA's new "toilet to tap" water processing machine that astronauts installed this week aboard the International Space Station. As widely reported, the recycling system turns "condensation, sweat and urine" into drinking water for astronauts who must spend months in space. And to answer the obvious question -- "yes" -- King did sample water processed from the machine, but we're happy to report it was just recycled tap water. "It tastes a little funny, thanks to the iodine used in the process," said King. "I'm told the water the astronauts will drink will taste much better, but at 200 miles up I guess you can't be too choosy!"
