» Tara In, Katz Out At WBT/Charlotte: Veteran afternoon host Jeff Katz has left the building at the Greater Media News/Talker as evening yakker Tara Servatius moves up to replace him in the 3-6pm slot. VP/Market Manager Rick Jackson calls Servatius "a superstar in waiting" and "a brilliant investigative reporter." Jackson and station PD Bill White will be in the studio at 3pm today to discuss the programming changes with listeners and allow Katz' fans to "vent" prior to Servatius' official move to PM drive next Monday (12/8). Meanwhile, Greater Media spokesperson Heidi Raphael released an official statement regarding Katz' abrupt departure saying, "We are very grateful for the many contributions that Jeff has made to WBT. He is a consummate professional and we wish him the very best."  

» Tyler Moody's Moving Up: Currently Senior Producer at CNNRadio, Moody has been promoted to the new position of Director of Audio Programming, reporting to CNN News Services VP Jerry DeMink. In his new role Moody will be responsible for all aspects of CNNRadio programming including handling daily affiliate live shot requests with network correspondents, short and long form newscasts, podcasts, online audio streams, Talk shows and breaking news. Moody first joined Atlanta-based CNNRadio as a coordinating producer and anchor in 1999 and was named to his most recent position in 2005.

» Tim Kelly Joins Envision: Nice to report on someone getting a job for a change as the longtime Cleveland radio veteran signs on with Envision Radio Networks as VP/GM. He'll oversee affiliate sales and also manage new operational initiatives set for launch next year. For the past 13 years Kelly worked for Elyria-Lorain Broadcasting , most recently as Ops Director and Market Manager for the company's Sandusky, OH cluster. Kelly's also a well-known face in the crowd at the annual Conclave Learning Conference where he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the annual event.

» Lou Dobbs Bites Big Apple: The United Stations Radio Networks syndicated talker and CNN television personality adds legendary Buckley Radio News/Talker WOR/New York as his latest affiliate. Beginning January 12, Dobbs will air from 2-4pm on WOR in a timeslot now occupied by Westwood One's Dennis Miller Show. WOR will also carry USRN's Lou Dobbs Financial Report feature as part of the deal. First launched last spring, Dobbs is now heard on a reported 150-plus stations nationwide.

Talk Media News Notes: Former NextMedia and GAP West exec Skip Weller joins Liquid Compass to consult the company's management team ... The Huffington Post and other published reports say that NBC News Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory will kick off the New Year as the new permanent host of Meet The Press. Veteran NBC anchor Tom Brokaw has been filling-in on the Sunday morning show since former host Tim Russert died after suffering a heart attack in June ... Country radio books the right guy at the right time, naming marketing guru and bestselling author Seth Godin as the keynoter at the annual Country Radio Seminar, March 4-6, in Nashville ... R.I.P. legendary Canadian broadcaster and Rogers Communications CEO Ted Rogers who died today (12/2) in Toronto of congestive heart failure. He was 75.

'Tis Better To Give Than Receive: That would seem to be the philosophy of WestStar TalkRadio Network's Kim Komando this holiday season as the Digital Goddess kicks off her "13th Annual Great Giveaway" to celebrate thirteen years as host of her nationally syndicated weekend radio show.
