» Mika Mugged In DC: While waiting for a car outside her hotel in Washington, DC this morning, MSNBC Morning Joe and ABC Radio Networks Joe Scarborough Show co-host Mika Brzezinski was accosted by an unknown assailant who demanded $20 from her. Brzezinksi gave the mugger all the cash she had with her -- six bucks -- after he reportedly told her to "give me money and nothing will happen." During his scheduled interview on MSNBC this morning DC mayor Adrian Fenty got an earful from Scarborough who detailed the incident and chided the unnamed hotel for it's lack of security. For her part, Brzezinski played down the crime saying, "It's OK. I love that hotel but I'll need six dollars before I leave the [NBC] bureau, that's all." Fenty said he would direct police to work with the hotel to investigate the incident.

» Uh, About Those Rudy Rumors: Seems that everyone has jumped on reports in the New York Post that former NYC Mayor and one-time Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani is in line for a new Talk radio show via Westwood One. Frankly, we'd be surprised if those rumors got beyond anything but just that -- rumors. Sources tell us that "hizzoner" has previously had some talks with WW One and other networks, but that no one is close to any kind of a radio deal with Giuliani at this point. However, we have heard a couple of other surprising names who just might be interested in filling the slot that will open when FOX News Channel personality Bill O'Reilly hangs up his radio headphones early next year. But if we told you ... well, you know the rest of that one. Stay tuned.

» Ya Gotta Believe! That's the philosophy of the elves at KGO/San Francisco who have gotten into the spirit of the season by launching their new holiday promotion Believe!. With this year's holiday season being tougher for many than ever, KGO is encouraging listeners to contact the station about themselves, or a neighbor, struggling to pay for something they can't afford right now. Through Christmas Eve the Citadel News/Talker will fulfill a request every weekday valued at up to $1000. In recent days the "KGO Santa" has paid off an electric bill for a single mom and five kids facing a shut-off of power at their home, made it possible for a mother to visit her son before he's redeployed to Iraq, and provided money for a pre-school teacher to buy holiday gifts for her autistic students. "These folks would have gone without this season because the resources are just not there for them," said PD Jack Swanson. "KGO Radio feels unbelievably fortunate to be able to give back in this way."

» Liz Dolan "OWNS": One-fifth of the Satellite Sisters quintet, Dolan has been named Chief Marketing Officer for Oprah Winfrey's new television network. Although Dolan says the gig is "a giant move for me" her new job won't totally break up the Sisters' act which made the transition from broadcast radio to a highly successful WEBSITE at the end of last year. The website and the popular "SisterBlog" will continue, but Dolan reports their regular podcast will go on hiatus for a while. "I'll miss the radio business, but in a couple of years good content will converge onto a few strong platforms and I want OWN to be one of them," said Dolan. Congratulate Liz, who officially begins her new job on January 5, HERE.

» Gig Alert: Got word today from Jeff Schwartz at Media Management Group that he's seeking to fill a New York City-based Director of Sales and Affiliate Relations position. "If you've got great contacts with programmers and management in the radio industry and an uncanny ability to get them to listen to you, then we may have the job you've been looking for," he says. "Tasks include mining for new affiliates (both AM and FM), maintaining contact with and supporting our current affiliates, and maintaining our affiliate microsite." If you've got the goods get your resume to Schwartz pronto HERE because he's "ready to go" on hiring for this opening.
